From pandemic to platform – how we created MOVE Com as the basis for client-centric innovation

When the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 made face-to-face meetings and international travel all but impossible, we at fine Expression faced a key question: How can confidential, multilingual meetings be held when physical presence is no longer an option?  

With no way of knowing how long the restrictions would be in place, we put our heads together and did what we do best: turned a challenge into a solution!   
The result was our very own, data protection compliant platform for remote interpreting: MOVE Com.  

Initial situation: A need and a creative drive  

The inspiration for MOVE Com came directly from our work with our clients. With the framework in which we do business turned on its head, existing communication processes needed to continue securely, reliably and efficiently. We knew right away that a temporary solution would not be enough.  

We specifically built up internal IT expertise and expanded our technical skills. The plan was to develop a platform that meets the toughest data protection requirements, allows flexible use, and can be integrated seamlessly into existing interpreting processes. Having started life as a reaction to the pandemic, it soon became the starting point for structural redevelopment at fine Expression – transforming the company into an integrated language and IT service provider.

Pilot project as a practical test  

One of the first projects with MOVE Com immediately put our solution to the test: A multilingual interpreting project between Frankfurt am Main and China, with interpreters from the United Kingdom.  

The project was divided into three phases:  

Preparation: 

We coordinated the translation and coordination of specialist queries, conducted detailed briefings for the interpreters, and provided technical training for everyone involved. Comprehensive connection and function tests for audio and chat between Germany, China and the United Kingdom made sure everything ran smoothly.

Execution:

To make sure we could react immediately to any connection issues, we provided active technical support during the live meeting. The session began on Zoom and later switched successfully to MOVE Com – a step that was universally welcomed, offering both data protection and stability.

Follow-up:

After the meeting, we provided a video recording and gathered feedback from everyone involved – input that flowed straight back into further development and optimisation of MOVE Com.

From MOVE Com to our integrated IT portfolio  

The success of this project clearly demonstrated how we work: aligned both linguistically and technologically with the needs of our clients. MOVE Com instantly became the foundation of a continuous innovation strategy, shaped by customer service, efficient decision-making and flexible technical implementation.  

Since then, we have constantly been developing our solutions further. As well as secure communication platforms, we now also offer bespoke IT services that can be adapted quickly and integrated and scaled according to requirements – always with the goal of making complex communication processes simpler and more secure. 

Summary

For us, the challenge of the pandemic gave rise to a long-term opportunity. In MOVE Com, we have not only created a technical platform, but established a way of working that views innovation as a shared process.  

Today, we combine language services and IT expertise with a clear ambition to develop technical solutions together with our clients – as pragmatic, forward-looking partners.
